Summer comes to a close

Although this summer has been a great break from full time classes for all of our brothers.  We are all ready to get back to 111 E. Stewart Rd this fall.  The chapter has their minds set on guiding our chapter through another successful year.

Luckily the Gamma Kappa chapter had four of their brothers attend the Stead Leadership Seminar up in Ames Iowa this past weekend.  At this event Brother Nick Smith, Ryan Kava, Spencer Fitter, and Danny Forman, learned about new tools, ideas and guides, that are attended to facilitate a zetas growth.  These brothers look forward to implementing The Cole Recruitment Guide, The Call To Brotherhood, and The True Leader initiative.

The chapter has also been busy this summer recruiting new members to our chapter we look forward to all of our future associate members.

Summer Fun

As summer nears its completion we look back on what has been going on with the lamb chops of Mizzou these past couple of months.

Junior Ryan Prsha and the rest of the chapter has been hard at work trying to recruit a great fall class of guys.  We have approximately 15 guys signed for the fall and are looking to close the class once we reach around 30 individuals.  A big thanks to Prsha and his work not only at formal recruitment but also at planning and overseeing some fantastic informal rush events.

Many of our brothers have spent there summer busy working for internships not only across the country but across the world.  Junior Andrew Krokstrom has been working on capitol hill working all summer interning for a Missouri rep.  Senior Nick Smith spent the majority of his summer doing an internship in Germany.  These are just a couple of the many interesting and exciting internships that our brothers are taking part in.  Hopefully these experiences serve as great life lessons and tools for everyone moving forward.

Along with the recruitment efforts, the chapter has been busy finding sponsorship for our annual philanthropy Watermelon Fest.  Already the chapter has several corporate sponsorship for the event and we look forward to working with these business along with our community to raise money and food to benefit the North American Food Drive.  If you or your business would be interested in sponsoring this years event contact Danny Forman at df244@mail.missouri.edu

Sophomore Danny Forman and Senior Nick Smith have also spent parts of their summer laying out the blueprints to restarting an outreach student organization known as Greek Advocates.  Greek Advocates is a student outreach program through the RSVP Center that hopes to educate the Greek Community on the issues of Power-Based Personal Violence cases.  Along with educating individuals on the issue, the group plans on informing the greek community on what steps they can take to proactively help diminish and reduce these cases from occurring in our community.  Hopefully these efforts will help our community change for the better in this specific issue.

It's been a great couple of months away from full time classes but I think it is safe to assume that the Gamma Kappa chapter is ready to get back to their studies and involvement at Mizzou.

Long time since last post

Since the last post a lot has happened for the gentlemen of Lambda Chi Alpha.  The Lambda Chis of Mizzou, took a first place finish in Greek Week.  Out competing other fraternities and sororities, from everything to sports to service, and everything in-between.  The greek week success was followed by a division one fraternity 1st place finish in sports.  We also say goodbye to our wonderful seniors who have graduated this past week.

A couple of individual shot outs to members this past spring:  Associate member Charlie Stoltze was named as one of Mizou's top 14  freshman.  Brother Jake Wren was named a Director of Greek Week for 2012.  Also Brother Ben Carrier was recognized on Mizzou's famous tap day by ODK.

This summer festivities include the annual float trip, and planning watermelon fest which is set for October 1st.  Also Lambda Chi is working with the RSVP center to revamp the Greek Advocate organization aimed to reduce and prevent power based personal violence among the greek community at Mizzou.
